Step inside our newly renovated, intimate space and enjoy the good vibes and great food..We've drawn inspiration from classic French brasseries, creating a space where you can start your day with a leisurely cup of joe or wind down in the evening with wine and charcuterie. What sparked our menu? Chef Jason Leizert, says “A blend of French pastry expertise, the zest of Italian sandwiches, and a touch of wine-paired small bites for those who love to explore flavors.
Now, let's talk about our favourites! Our pride and joy are our house-made baked goods that will tempt your taste buds every time. And don't forget about our freezer stash, filled with an assortment of sausages and grab-and-go meals and treats for those on the move. We're all about seasonal and local ingredients here—think fresh produce that's bursting with flavour, locally cured hams, and veggies that steal the show when they're in season.
Expect something new each visit as our menu rotates seasonally. Plus, we've got daily/weekly specials, including freshly baked bread that adds that extra warmth to your meal. And after our grand opening, get ready for small plates perfect for summer evenings, paired with our special handcrafted sangria to really savor those summer moments.
Behind the Design
Channeling the inviting ambiance of a quaint French bistro with its rustic yet refined design, the intimate space provides a welcoming setting that reflects the essence of the region's culinary heritage and rugged charm. Located right on Main Street, the cafe patio is set to be a prime destination for taking in the picturesque views while relaxing with a delicious coffee and snack.
Ed Tsang, Senior Interior Designer for Basecamp Resorts, says “Picture exposed brick walls standing tall against a black and white backdrop, complemented by repurposed materials for that rustic yet refined vibe, while neon signs and exposed wood joists add a touch of industrialism and warmth”.
Electric Wolf Café is also a tribute to Canmore's vibrant community and local artists. The walls are adorned with stunning works sourced from local artists, each piece a reflection of the region's rich cultural history and natural beauty. The café will showcase a rotating collection of local artworks every six months.
Tsang mentions “Wander through our space and you'll find the walls adorned with stunning artworks sourced from local artists, each piece a reflection of the region's rich cultural heritage and natural beauty”. Each piece tells a story, whether it's a sweeping landscape or an abstract masterpiece, showcasing the diverse tapestry of Canmore's culture and natural allure.
A few artists that we’ll be working with are:
Canadian artist Fraser McGurk, has lived in the Rocky Mountains for 28 years. He arrived at Lake Louise, at age 18, drawn by the excitement of mountain living and outdoor adventure. While having no formal training in the Fine Arts, he has developed his own unique style combining new wood materials with traditional wood-working techniques.
After being retired, Corinne found herself presented with the opportunity to learn a new skill during the pandemic and subsequent lockdown. As a self-taught artist, she experimented with various mediums and subjects, eventually discovering a passion for acrylic painting.
Cecilia Leddy, known as Teenybotanist, is a Toronto-born painter and illustrator. She studied Printmaking and Art History at OCAD University, specializing in lithography, silkscreen, and lightboxes. Cecilia later pursued Arts Administration and was an International Artist in Residence in Canberra, Australia.
In her latest series, "Constellations," Cecilia partners with photographer Bryan Peters to blend nature and stars, using his Rocky Mountain night sky photos as backdrops for her wildlife-inspired illustrations.
Bryan Peters, a professional photographer based in the Canadian Rockies, is deeply passionate about capturing the beauty of nature. With a keen eye for pristine landscapes, stunning flora and fauna, and thrilling adventures, Bryan is always in pursuit of the perfect shot. An avid outdoorsman, he fearlessly tackles any challenge to capture breathtaking images, whether it's high in the alpine, clinging to a rock face, or enjoying leisurely days by the lakeside. With a smile on his face and a camera in his hand, Bryan is dedicated to preserving the wonders of the natural world through his photography.
